Jaap van den Broek

Jaap van den Broek is co-founder of De Zaak van Advocaten.



Jaap advises start-ups and investors with venture capital investment rounds, exits, and corporate governance issues. He advises on the intersection of public-private partnerships to make the Netherlands more prominent in the field of companies originating from scientific research and striving for societal impact. He has extensive experience with deep tech and bio-tech investments.



Jaap regularly publishes about new developments in this field, including in NRC and EW.



Jaap studied law and history at the Vrije Universiteit and the University of Amsterdam and has a cum laude LL.M. from the University of Glasgow.

Sophie Kuijpers

Founder. Governance. Sustainability.

Sophie Kuijpers is co-founder of De Zaak van Advocaten.



Sophie's expertise lies in sustainability developments within corporate law. She is convinced of the power of businesses to shape the new economy. Sophie is a co-author of the standard documentation for steward ownership companies. She regularly publishes and comments on sustainability developments.



Her determination for innovation in corporate governance is also reflected in her work as chair of the Blikverruimers foundation.



Sophie obtained her master's degree in Private Law Practice from the University of Amsterdam. She was a graduate exchange student at Brooklyn Law School.

Rutger Marres

M&A. Steward Ownership

Rutger is a lawyer (a.i.) at DZVA focusing on corporate governance and impact transactions. He guides mission first companies, investors, and entrepreneurs in the transition to a new economy. He specializes in steward ownership and assists clients in transitioning to a steward ownership structure.

Based on his knowledge of sustainable property and financing models, Rutger contributes to the development of innovative governance models that promote socially responsible entrepreneurship. He also regularly teaches about steward ownership.

Rutger obtained his master's degree in Law & Business at Utrecht University in 2015.

In the register of jurisdictions of the Dutch Bar Association, Rutger has registered the following main (and sub) areas of law: Corporate law (mergers and acquisitions). Based on this registration, he is required to earn ten training points each calendar year according to the standards of the Dutch Bar Association in each registered main area of law.

Eva Ulmer

Impact Investing. Venture Capital.

Eva is a legal assistant at De Zaak van Advocaten, specializing in European (sustainability) legislation.

 

Eva has sharp insight into both the legal and economic aspects of legal issues and investment rounds due to her law studies (minor in economics) at Utrecht University. She obtained her Master (LL.M.) in International Business Law at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with a specialization in climate change and enterprises. Afterwards, she interned at various (inter)national law firms.

 

At DZVA, Eva focuses primarily on impact investments and supports companies and investors contributing to the new economy.
